November 27th Further work on Mt. Harriet

Today as poor Tony had a cold it was left to Matt, Colin and I to continue working on the Mount Harriet layout. It was incredibly windy today so I didn't take any of the chaps along to photograph as they wouldn't have been able to stand even with support.

We dug some Turf from elsewhere on the site and laid it out on top of the soil previously laid.

The started to build up the back to form the mount.

Need to further build up and then cover it with more turf.

20/11/2011 Pebble Island and Mt. Harriet

It's been a while since any work was done but today Tony, Matt with Colin and Mick (from the Museum) continued on the smaller two dioramas.

However before that here is how the grass has taken hold on the hill of the Goose Green layout.

Anyone got a 1/6th scale lawnmower as we may need it.

So today we carried on by adding rubble to the Mt. Harriet layout

Then we dug out some more soil from elsewhere on site to cover the rubble

Then once that was done we started to put down the turf we had dug up to get to the soil.

We will continue to build up the turf on both layouts and add a pond liner to the pebble island to take the water.
Behind the scenes Tony is adapting an HM Forces Harrier and is building part of a Pucara for the Pebble Island SAS/SBS attack.
Hope to meet up again next Sunday to carry on.

Thursday 13th October - Pebble Island

Took the day off work today so that Matt and I could start work on Pebble Island.

From Tony's design

We started by laying a base of sand one end and rubble the other.

Once the rubble was down we then started to add some soil dug from elsewhere on the site.

Just one last lot to add but time ran out and we were knackered anyway.

Hopefully we can carry on sometime over the coming weekend.

Saturday 8th October

Today Tony and I constructed the bases for the two smaller Dioramas. We used Scaffold boarding cut to size and screwed together. Next job is to fill them both with rubble and topsoil.

We did have some help(?) from these characters.

They seem to be forever drinking tea though..

Sunday 2nd October

Well today we should have started on the other two dioramas we are planning. However due to several factors this was not possible, so we decided to play...err lay out some figures on the main one to see how it would look.

Thanks to Chris (AKA Von Ryan/Barney Leadhead) and Tony (AKA ZULU-1/Firetiger) for a great day playing....err working out the layout of the diorama.
